According to a survey by LINE Thailand, users who are younger than 20 years old have a tendency to use other chat apps like Instagram, Messenger, and Discord more frequently than LINE. To maintain its market dominance, LINE must adapt and improve itself to satisfy changing needs of its customers.
As consequently, a contest was held to gather innovative concepts and features for LINE. It's a contest within the organization. I got the opportunity to present this concept while I was an intern at Line.

We started by conducting a research on users’ behavior and found that Thai users have a common pain points which is the laziness to deal with a lot of unorganized information, e.g. a lot of conversations and topics.

To help users with this habit to deal with complicated and time-consuming steps, there should be some facilitators to minimize these kinds of struggling processes. Moreover, the users have various purposes to use the chats. So, the facilitators for these cases should be options for users to pick and choose to match their issues.
Firstly, we suggested LINE to have extensions for users’ different problems.
We developed the ideas of options to chatbot extensions which can be diversified for specific problems. We selected core problems to develop pilot chatbots.
LINEChatBots is thus an extension that will bring together thousands of developers to create chatbots to meet the needs of millions of users. It can also generate revenue for developers and LINE company via ChatBots Market, which will feature a variety of chatbots for users to choose from. Finally, LINEChatBots will be able to completely solve the problem of reducing the rate of LINE usage by users.

In this project, I am in charge of all UX/UI design. LINEChatBots extension is separated into two sections. The first part involves running chatbots in user chats and managing various chatbots, while the second part is ChatBots Market, which will be a marketplace where users can select and purchase chatbots that meet their specific needs.

The first part addresses how to run and manage chatbots in group chats. I added a launch mechanism to the bottom panel of the chat box for users' accessibility. The user will be able to enter the chatbot menu, which will take them to the chatbot management window within the group. You can add or remove chatbots you've purchased or subscribed to the group. Users can also click for more information and instructions on how to use each chatbot.

I designed ChatBots Market to closely resemble Line's current sticker and theme store. However, include information about the sample chat window where users can enter messages or commands to test out various chatbots.

Other members can click the survey and select their available time-slot in a few clicks. After all selected members answer the survey, Meet! will send the common available day/time as a result automatically. Users can also plan their meeting/gathering by using Meet! again.

After developing the prototype, we tested it with 50 Line users. Most users commented that the chatbot usage system that we developed is not difficult to use because it is simple to understand and similar to Line's current system. However, we have received feedback on future decisions, such as chatbot payment formats or chatbot commands, which must be designed in the future.

Cloud is a chatbot that helps remove a limitation on storing various data on LINE, such as images or videos. Through automatic uploading of files in chat to Drive, users can access and manage their files anywhere and at any time.

Urgent Message is a chatbot that helps solve the problem of group members not being motivated to read and respond to chats. It achieves this by sending messages that have an automatic disappearing feature in order to create curiosity and increase engagement on LINE.
